This training session will take place over two days on October 27th and October 29th. Each sesssion will start at 11 AM and last one hour.
Claude for Education is one assistant in two forms, and the difference matters: in the browser, Claude works with what you give it; in the desktop app, it can work directly with the files and folders on your own computer. This two-part session covers both. Session 1 starts with getting access and switching between models, then moves into Claude chat – writing, document and data analysis, and using Projects to maintain context across work. Session 2 shifts to the desktop app and Cowork, where Claude takes on multi-step tasks across your own files instead of answering one question at a time. Throughout, we'll cover how to decide what data belongs in Claude and where human review is non-negotiable. By the end, participants will know which version of Claude fits which kind of work, and how to hand off a real task with confidence.
This training session is intended for Columbia University faculty, researchers, and staff. We request that students and university affiliates (Barnard and Teachers College) refrain from registering.
